We took a Monday off in late June to use the boat after replacing the manifolds and elbows. It is a lot quieter during the week than on the weekend. Here is Snake Island with nobody home

March 2011 - Englewood
The first weekend of March, the middle child came to visit from school in Tallahassee. We took her and her boyfriend, and the youngest and her best friend down to the White Elephant Pub in Englewood.
Here we are leaving the intracoastal just south of the Tom Adams bridge, heading west toward the White Elephant.
Sailboat and trawler at anchor
This boat brought back memories of my parents 33' Silverton that they had when I was growing up.
Approaching the restaurant...
The White Elephant
Wastin' Aweigh Again at the dock
The gang waiting on our food. The dog is with us but he is hanging out under the table.
The teenagers with their frozen concoctions - virgin drinks, of course.
The Admiral. This was about 2 months after her achilles surgery and she was still using the cane to get around.
Loaded up and almost ready to go...
Heading out after lunch
Heading down the channel toward Stump Pass
Some dogs enjoying the day...
Tubing
Parasailing on the Gulf of Mexico
We decided to go back on the outside since it was such a nice day. Here we are approaching the Venice Fishing Pier
Sharky's on the Pier - a touristy restaurant and tiki bar on the Gulf complete with live music.
The youngest looking like the terminator with her marshmallow gun.
Coming back into Venice Inlet...
The next day, we were out and saw this beauty heading south past the marina.
And one last pic of the dog all stretched out and enjoying the day.

February 2011 Venice Inlet
I decided to look back through some of the older pictures and post some of the better ones. This group is from February 2011, when we were anchored at Snake Island near Venice inlet. It was a nice day after several rough weekends in a row, and lots of boats were out on the water.
Here is a canoe heading up the intracoastal
Really nice fishing boat heading out
A racing sailboat tacking out in the Gulf
Here's a couple of shots of the sailboater blocking the inlet. The Gulf is pretty big - never understood why people behave this way.
You just have to love Hobies - not sure why this one has an outboard on it, though.
Traffic jam on the intracoastal...
Crow's Nest has added electric boat rentals to their business. These are pretty cool although I wouldn't want to own one.
Kayakers getting into the act...
Another nice looking Sea Ray 260 out for the day.
The Sheriff checking things out...
This guy needs a little more wind, although I suppose that the paddles will get you there also.
The local "duck" boat out on the water.

Memorial Day 2011
It was a great day to get out on the water...
The water is about as clear as it gets in this part of Florida during late spring.
Lots of people out at the public beach...
Here is a family with a tent set up at the beach. That brings back memories of my parents doing the same thing. My Dad was a master at setting up a tent and anchoring so that it could survive a hurricane!
A party barge heading down the intracoastal...
We spent the afternoon off of Snake Island in Venice. The crowds are not as big as they used to be.
Love the dog with the sunglasses paddle surfing!
Not sure how the pelican manages to stay perched on the tree limb
